Anyone know how I can put a 6.5 in my door without modifying it. I want to keep the stock look, I just recovered the grills with new grill cloth and I dont like to build out doors unless absolutly necessary. Any input is great thanks!

What year? Most 6.5s will fit in all but the oldest Preludes. The plastic cup needs to be removed, and a spacer may need to be fashioned out of wood, but all but the beefiest midbass should fit.

And that's the bottom line, cuz:

Dukk.. i know its an old post!

i got a 90model prelude and i know about the plastic **** they speaker holds on to...

if i make a new mounting baffle of say 12mm mdf (0.5inch), or thicker, i can see that i can mount a fairly standard 6.5 driver of say 65mm (2.6") mounting depth. BUT if i do that then the door trim will not clip back on...

    help!!

and whats the bigger driver u've installed in a 90 prelude???

oh, and any tips for sound deadening the doors?

bloody preludes.... impossibly shallow doors and small boots (trunks)

I saw a '90 'lude with 8's in the doors... and NO buildout! They did have to move the window tracks back about an inch or so.

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

Put some Illusion Audio speakers in the doors- if you can get them in Austraila that is. I have their 8s in the doors of my 300ZX and they rock! The 8s are 2 1/4 inches deep, and the 6 1/2s and 5 1/4s are even more shallow. If you can't get those speakers down there, I will be more that willing to fly down to Australia to deliver them. Orion also makes a really shallow 6 anch 8 inch midbass.

    Cool

I have a prelude too, an 88, and boy it rattles like a mofo!! Anyone have any tips on reducing the rattle the doors and windows make?

As for getting 6.5's in the doors, it wouldn't be easy, but it's definitely do-able.

Deliver free? Don't know about that one.

Too bad you can't easily get those brands down under. And I really wanted to go until I heard that .
