most stock car batterys are 12v right? and those big batterys like yellow tops and SRV those are 14v right? do u have to do anything else to your system when u put those big ones in the place of the stock battery(like anything with the alt or somethin)

my Optima says 12 volt, and its a yellow top, so I don't know about the 14 volt thing, as far as any work on the alt, as long as its in good working order I don't see any need if you are just upgrading from a factory to an optima battery. I don't know about SVRs, maybe they make a 14, someone else can maybe answer that one? hope that helps you man.

the batteries are both 12v. when the car is off and you are running your system you get 12v but when the car is turned on you get 14v. you don't need to make any changes to your cars charging system to upgrade to an optima or srv battery

One thing I would do, if you upgrade batteries.. upgrade your battery ground to a 4 gague wire. this will help a bit.

as bigjim said, both batteries are 12v. the 14v comes from your alt. thats why you only get 14 when the car is running. for those batteries youll be fine, but dont put just any deep cycle battery in there. ive heard that some deep cycle batteries require a lot more to charge them, and that most alt. cant handle that. but i dont really know if thats true or not. either way, the batteries you mentioned will be fine, and yea, its a good idea to upgrade that ground.

Thats not neccessarily true though..when i crank it up with the car running my voltage goes from 14.6 volts to under 12..so you have to keep the voltage up in order to recieve the 1700 watts
