Well i'm in the market for a 30-band eq. Lookin for suggestions. I am looking at the IDQ31. But i would really like to mount it up front somewhere, possibly the glove compartment.
Any suggestions are welcome.
thanks

Well the IDQ-31 are nice units, but they don't really lend themselves to up front mounting. You need two since they are mono units and they are 19" wide and about 7" deep. I've seen them mounted under the dash like horns, in the doors, and in the floors, none looked to easy to do. The EQT's are also nice but again you need two of them, same with the Zapco pieces, I like them thew best as far as look and construction but they are more expensive, but also smaller. Phoenix gold has the EQ232 which could possinbly be mounted in the glovebox with a little work.
If you are wanting something to tweak all the time I wouldn't suggest a 1/3 octave EQ, if you just want to be able to tune from the front seat I would suggest putting the EQ somewhere and builiding an umbilical cord to extend the cables to the front seat when you are tuning, and put it back and leave it alone when you are done.

Well jc2 that sounds like a good idea. I looked at the zapco, it looks sweet. Is it a mono unit also? I think i could fit that up front somewhere fairly easily.
thanks

Yes the Zapco's are mono units, still very small though.

How about a Rockford Fosgate EPX2 with the E28 card? 28 band EQ, built in crossover and several other features. You would be able to control it from the front then.

A Rockford OEQ-2 would work as well.. in fact, it works comparably to a decent 30 band IMO and is TINY. Its a REALLY small piece, you could get it into your glove easily.

HEY! I'm looking for a CHEAP used Clarion Thunderdome.. Hook me up!

If the sub moves, use it. If the tweet's metal, lose it.
If you car doesn't have Oz, I just can't excuse it.

Hey ShadowStar, you like that OEQ2? I am considering an EPX2 but would like go a cheaper route. I will be running RF amps so I will have a built in filter that will be in the range I need it to. I was thinking just go with Power series with the 24 db/octave and then OEQ vs. Punch series with EPX2. The only thing is I can get the EPX2 with the E28 for $450 and the OEQ is not that much cheaper. Can that thing cover any frequency? I was looking at the center frequencies and the frequency warp and it seemed they were perfectly spaced so that you could hit any frequency.

I don't know if you are still looking for EQs but there is a pair of IDQ-31s on Ebay with a reserve of 250. If you could get them for that it would be a great deal.

Ryb- Yeah, they're spaced out well, its a good piece. You can hit almost any peak pretty well.
