I am looking to run a set of components off an x-over and need a tweeter control and bandpass control. I am considering the Coustic XM-5e and the MTX RTX03A. I have used coustic XM-1 and 3 but never the 5. I have never used an MTX x-over but since I have MTX amps I was thinking of keeping the x-over the same brand. Can someone tell me if one has more control over the other?
Thanks

I'd go with the Coustic myself over the MTX because the MTX is not a true 3 way, it has a low pass and 2 high passes, plus it doesn't have the bass knob...the coustic has a high, a mid and a low pass with a bass knob...go coustic...you can get them used on ebay for a good price now and then...
I just picked up a PG MX3i over the coustic...I got it for 75$...

I agree. Go with the coustic since you need a bandpass output fot the mid.

Cool Beans!
I was leaning towards the Coustic, does anyone know a cheap place to buy one? E-Bay does not ever seem to have the XM-5. Also I do not need the bass knob, more junk to wire!

they come up on ebay once a month, or every other month...also look for the Phoenix Gold MX3i...its a comparable unit...only difference is that the hi pass ends up being the lo pass of the bandpass...and the low pass of the sub pass ends up being the high pass of the bandpass...wheras the Coustic is fully variable for each pass...whew!
but don't know where you can get coustics online...
try woofersetc.com, sqaudio.com, soundhabit.com, sounddomain.com
good luck!

So, if the PG MX3i is so weird when you use it as a banpass and the coustic has better control why would you recommend it? Does it do something better that I am missing?
Just curious...

I just got a better deal on the MX3i, plus it has a steeper XO slope.
Also someone advised me that it doesn't allow as much noise into the signal...
