View Full Version : If amps go unlimited reduce the allowable battery size in street.

Interms of the battery size I would be in favour of limiting its size further, to reduce the number of amps that can be used effectively.
600 cubic inches is plenty, most average batteries people would put into audio setups are not bigger than that, It is only a few specialist and commercial batterys that are any bigger.
A standard optima is smaller than 600 cubic inchs and most super heavy duty automotive and most large 4x4 batteries that the average joe would easily fit in a standard car are not any bigger than 600 cubic inches.
Its a compromise I guess, If you are going to go unlimited, it is best to try and limit the amount of power further and the easiest way to do that is with the battery size.
The only batteries I can think of that are over the 600 cubic inches are the new optima group 31 and the north star. Non of which are average batteries which would normally be found being used in cars. It would be relatively inexpensive aswell for the competitor who has invested in such batteries to use smaller batteries, which are actually designed for use in normal cars. :)

I can apprechiate that fact, but are any of the batteries in question car batteries? This is car audio afterall, so should not we be using batteries that normal poeple would consider putting in cars.

reduce it to what? all aftermarket batteries that are ment for car audio like Optimas, Hawkers, Kinetix, TurboStart and a few others are already at the allowable limit. if u go any smaller I dont think these guys will be too happy, that is not supporting the industry.

600 cubic inches, standard optimas are less than that already, even the stinger SP1700 is less than 600 cubic inches.

It happens every year, Currently under the old rules what is to stop somebody coming along that can afford 2 crowns in street B from dominating street B. ( the only problem is fitting 2 crowns in a panda)
Yes 2 crowns will run perfectly fine in street B off one battery.
Not allowing giant batteries that have nothing to do with cars will atleast give them less of an advantage.

Livin Loud This is exactlly WHY YOU DON'T SEE VETERAN competitors comment or push for new rules cause this does happen every year!!!!
It gets really old every year, all the moaning and pissing by newbies coming up with things that make no sense or favor their situation!!!
I wish wayne would do like he did back in the day and just make the rules hiself and say this is it my way or the highway!!!

I agree with Danny, half the time the rules that people want are only to make their own situation better, so they think, but the top people will still be there winning with the new rules, and the average Joe will still walk away because dbdrag had gotten even more expensive and out of their reach. LEAVE THE RULES ALONE FOR ONCE.
