alright..... ill probably get laughed at for this one... BUT ill stick my neck out anyhow
i thought i read somewhere if you chain 2 crossovers together, you get the db/octave of the two added together.... I.E, using a punch 800a2 amp with a 12 db/octave crossover in it, as well as a pioneer dehp7000r with another 12 <or is it 18???> db/octave in IT... if i turn the both of them to the same crossover point, will i get 24db/octave?
i have a friend that has 2 12" XLCs in a civic hatch, and when he uses his crossover on the deck WITH the crossover on the amp, his bass sounds alot tighter than when he just changes the deck non fading to adjustable level and drops the crossover on the deck to only use the crossover on the amp
anyone with a reply
sorry if this sounds competley screwed up, its 2am damnit gimme a break

OK..... KICK........... A$$
i really didnt think i was right
this is awesome, that means i theorettically have a punch power amp now... lol
being the big diff. is the 24 db/octave crossover
hehe.....now, if imcorrect again, this should bring the bass up front more, right
better soundstage and all that happy crap
man, this is much better than i expected... hehe
do ya think 120Hz is a good crossover point for eights??
or 80??

<font color="blue"><cite>Ok, you kinda lost me since I don't
remember your system very well.
If your referring to having a 24 db octave
LP x-over on subs in back, then yes.
On a normal application less bleed through
means less of the soundstage is pulled
to the back of the car.
As far as SQ goes, I find I have to keep the
subs at 50hz LP for comps and run the 8's
up front 50-275 to keep a bass up front
image.

well, im just runnin 4 eights in a sealed box with the punch 800a2 on them
and a set of fanatics up front, maybe with a punch 100 on them....not sure yet
we'll see how the $$$ looks...
so my question would be, for daily use,is 80 or 120 Hz a better xover piont for eights..... i dont think ill be competing.. unless just once to see what i hit, which is likley.. just to tell ppl what im doing if they ask...
now when answering this q, keep in mind i like rock, punk rock and stuff like that to be specific
i dont like rap or country or rnb
but i do have a few bass demo cds... thanks folks

Four 8s SEALED?? What, you only had 1 cuft to spare????
I just dropped 2 XLC8s into a ranger with 0.65 cuft each, slot ported and it sounded kickass.
Man, YOU need a port.........

I....... and i stress this.... IIIIIIIIIIIII dont like ported boxes.. heheheh
you may love them... you may kill me for saying anything bad about them... BUT i dont like the way they sound on MY tunes.. and just so ya know, i plan on putting the 4 eights in 2 cubes.. so as not to take up much hatch room.. i wanna be fairly functional..... lol

Thats cool man. I love the way sealed boxes sound! Nice and tight... hmmmm hehehhe > http://www.termpro.com/ubb/smile.gif
Moveing on! LOL
Ported is best i think IMO for SPL. It also does have its place in SQ of course. This is MY OPINION so dont flame me or whatever. Remember, as long as it sounds good to you it doesnt matter what others think.

<font color="blue"><cite>I would start with 80hz, if you need to
got to 100hz. I don't think you would
like those 8's at 120 but hey, try it
if your not happy.
I'd just think to much of the sound would
be very rearward.
