I tried to search but couldnt find any answers... Ive been out of the car audio thing for awhile, but want to dust off some things in my closet and install them.

I have some focal 5.25's. Absolutely awesome sounding speakers. The only problem is apparently over the past couple years somehow I knocked one of the wires loose. Its one of the ones that connect to the cone... and then are 'glued' down. It just disconnected at the part that was soldered.. all the wire is still there. Could I just pull the wire loose from the cone, resolder, then reglue? What kind of 'glue' is it if I can fix it?

I also have some older 5.25 OZ audio coaxials. Imo, perfect rear fill speakers. They sound awesome... but one of the surrounds on a cone is a little messed up. Could I send it off to get reconed? How much would it cost if so?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks! [Smile]

I've never seen 5.25" oz or focal recones. I'm sure you can pay somebody to recone it with alternate soft parts....but at that cost you can probably find those same speakers used but in mint condition on ebay.

Focal -- So the wire is still connected to the cone, but disconnected where you plug the speaker wire into? If so -- you can just resolder it...it's easy. [Smile] heat up the pool of solder w/soldering iron and slip it back in.

Oz -- the surround is a little torn or complete gaps and missing surround? If it's only torn or disconnected from the cone you can patch it back up with some silicone. I have some old Oz' myself...highly doubt you'll be able to get your finger in there lol. Use a q-tip. Put some silicone on the q-tip and apply it on the underside of the surround using your finger as support on the opposite side.

You can silicone it on the top side for the same results, underside just looks cleaner. If you patch it up right you might not even see where it was torn [Smile]

good luck mang

well on the focal.. theres the 2 real thin wires that run up the cone about 1/2way, this part is glued/siliconed down. then its soldered to a braided wire that goes to the speaker wire connection plate. Its broken where the 2 wires are soldered together. Im pretty sure the heat from a soldering iron would ruin the cones in a quickness... so I was planning on pulling the 'glued' down wire off a bit, resoldering, then 'gluing' it back down. The problem Im having is getting the glued down wire unglued. Its on there pretty good..
heres a pic of what Im talking about (sorry for the quality, my ****ty digicam takes ****ty pics):
 -
What the 2 arrows are pointing to are the 2 wires that need to be connected. Its supposed to look like whats circled on the right.
The little plate that the speaker wire connects to is broken as well, but thats no big deal. Id realllllly like to get these speakers back in my ride... so any suggestions???

Now on the OZ coaxials... just one of the cone surrounds looks all busted up. It still sounds fine (to me). Its wrinkled up in a couple places on the surround, I believe from the screws being tightened to tightly?? Heres a pic of what Im talkig about:
 -
If theres no reasonably cheap way to fix these.. Ill just play them til I want/need something else. :shrugs:
