Hi, I'm fairly new to this forum but here is my problem: I just bought this new panasonic deck from etronics.com a while ago and it's been working "ok". Right from the start after I finished installing it, I noticed that it skipped alot more often than my old JVC deck. I used my same music cds and I drive under the same conditions, yet sometimes I can't listen to a song without it skipping at least every 5 seconds! Is there anyone here that has the same problem or knows how to fix this? Here is what I have:

-Panasonic CQ-C8300U mp3 player
-it's in a 2000 toyota corolla ve
-i have a professional wiring harness
-2 6x9's powered by a crappy 400watt pyramid amp
-a 12" sony xplod sub powered by a 700watt alpine amp

-i should also note that it doesn't skip when i don't drive

I have one suspicion that i got from a topic that i found on this forum... could it be because of the sub and the bass? it didn't affect my jvc deck at all but maybe this deck isn't build for this. thanks for reading,

-Mike

My guess: The H/U is loose in it's mounting position, or the mounting kit is flimsy OR there may be some pressure being applied to the back of the unit where all the wiring is.(Which is transferring road vibration)

It's definately a mechanical problem.(It skips mostly when the car is being driven= vibration caused skipping)

It could be possible that the H/U is bad. (faulty suspension or loose cd transport carriage)

Good luck!

Oh! Gotta give ya credit for listing everything that you have. Shows that you've taken some time and researched around here.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies everyone! First of, the HU is secured pretty tightly, so that can't be it. I also don't think that the HU is "bad" cause it's brand new. What i haven't thought about is pressure from behind where all the wires are. I know that back there in the console everything is really tight because of the heating ducts.

So i'm gonna see what i can do to rearrange some of the wires and hope for the best! Thanks again,

-Mike

I along with a couple of other people are having the same problem with our 8400's so it may be a manufacturer issue.

I've consistantly burped mine at 149-150 on the TL while holding it in my hand inside the cab but still I am having these issues.

I've had the 8400U and it skipped every 2 seconds, if i farted at a stop light the CD would stop playing (not literally). After a while I started noticing little scratches on my CD's (circular scratches meaning the transport case was loose allowing the CD to hit something inside) I took the unit back and down graded to my current 8100U since then.......not a single problem.

Dump the unit and look for something better, maybe even down grade to the 8100U? just a thought.

That depends on the year of the pioneer. If you have one with the rubber touch buttons, the rubber wears out fast and makes it look nasty. Other then that, its not too often that you hear of a problem from Pioneer units. I like the new 05 units from pioneer, might even consider getting one, if i find the right price for 1.

Thanks everyone, as soon as i get the money i'm trashing the 8300 (not literaly) and getting a Pioneer DEH-P7600MP

the 8300 would literally skip sometimes without me even driving. I've looked around on other boards, and that model seems to have that trouble alot.

I was thinking of getting a Panasonic soon. Is that the only one people are having alot of problems with? I had one a long time ago (2001) and it was one of the better(for not skipping) that I had. I really liked my Eclipse 5303 though.

From what I've seen, panasonic usually make a strong H/U. It may be only that model. Or a bad batch?
