I am posting this for a friend ( and for my personal knowledge..)
My friend has 2 Kicker 10" Comp VR subs in a Mistubishi Mirage. He has a Hifonics Centurion powering them. Problem is this... the subs fade in and out, and completely shut off. On the amp, the power light flickers off and on. He used to have teh amp bridged to a JBL 10" and the same problem happened. BUT.... before he swapped speakers.. the tinsel leads were literally soldered together.. they were too long (factory!!!!) Could this have damaged his amp? or what. He took it back to the guy that installed it ( a local shop..Best Buy) and he re-did the wires.. and still... same problem.. Now here's the wierd part.. it will play days at a time, and be fine... then once in a while.. BAM... fades in and out. He told me taht if he taps the top of the amp, he gets the same effect... is it something internal on the amp?

Any info appreciated....

gabriel

To Me i sounds as if somthing is shorting or lose inside
Is their a hiffonics dealler that can chrck out the amp?
also whats the ohm level capabilities of it ,And what are you running it at?
If the tinsel leads on the other amp touched its very possible it did internal damage

the leads on the JBL touched... it is stable to 1 ohm.. but right now it is 2 ohm stereo. (1 sub per ch)
it is 100x2

Having sold many of those amps, I don't recommend the 2 ohm mono load. Just my experience.
