I have an 86-1/2 Nissan pickup truck V6 standard Kingcab 4x4. Put a Pioneer deck in it and now the sound cuts out when the truck is running at over 2,000 RPM. When the truck is off everything works fine. What is going on here????????

2,000! Damn thats aweful! My guess is that you electrical system is so bad that your alt doesnt have enough strength to put power to your system as it does to the rest of your engine. What size alt? Have u upgraded ur "big 3"?

I wouldn't think it would be the alt. At 2,000RPM+ the alternator is putting out its peak power, and engines' ignitions don't draw that much power once they are started.

If not the alternator then what? Do you have any advice as to how I can approach this problem or what is causing it????

Do you have a volt meter, and do your amps have over-voltage protection? Could it be your voltage regulator could be putting out excessive voltage above 2k? Just a thought. I had a similar problem before, but was intermittent and wouldn't happen all the time. I had spikes up to 20V

Yes I have a volt-meter. Where is the voltage regulator and what does it look like?
