Well, i figured i'd finallt post my question in the right forum for a change.
My kenwwod deck was allowing engine noise through the front RCA's. The rear RCA's are fine. Well, i just put the ground loop isolater on the front channel and the noise is now gone.
My question still remains, is the problem my deck or what? I'm gonna be getting a newer Alpine around Christmas or so, but it just bugs me because i don't know the answer.

if a ground loop fixed your problem it's NOT the HU. the hu is sopposed to reference the signal to ground through the outer shield
your problem is bad power supply isolation from something down the signal chain
amp-- signal processor ---- something that has low AC-DC isolation through its power supply ---which lets current get into the signal wire ----for which it wants to go to ground-----through the HU
get it-----?

Well it perplexes me because the amp i have is a hifonics 4 channel. When i unplug the front rca's and just have the rears connected there is no noise. Everything is fine. I have tried the rear with channels 1/2 and 3/4 of the amp and still no noise. Only when the front is hooked up is when i get noise. Maybe the ground on the HU? I regrounded the amp and that did'nt change anything!

installed one of my amps this week and was having horrid alt whine myself. regrounded it three times, moved the rca's as far away from + and - as possible and noise still remained. Finally figured it out yesterday. My rca's were touching some grounding point behind the deck. wrapped tape around them and problem solved.
