ok let me lay down the system for you. panasonic head unit 4v from rca to a kicker kq5 5 band eq puts out 7v then goes to a zr 240 for mids and highs, and a zr 1000 for bass. there is no problem with the high but with the volume all the down on the head unit. i can walk to the truck without touching the car if i put my finger on the pos going to the speakers i get a 60 hz tone i'd say in the mid 130's if i touch the neg the speakers start flopping around like they are going to blow out of the box. if i touch both of them at the same time i get a shock. i'm taking it has the zr 1000 is messed up.

Sounds like you need to perform an exorcism!!! First off, I would be careful about touching those connections! Zr 1000's can pack a whollap if you aren't careful! I would take an ohm meter and see what resistence you have on all the grounds in your system. They may look great, but they may be all of your problem. That amp is touchy, but if all connections are made very well, it should not read you as a potential ground. You said it makes sound when the volume is down, you may have a situation occurring with your signal path (rca's) having a bad ground. Check those rca's or temporarily replace them- just to eliminate that problem. You could have a damaged rca or maybe even a 'cold solder joint' on the rca connection on the amp's circuit board. If you can do tone bursts without a cd, I'd bet your problem lies with in the signal path. Also, disconnect your rca's, and do your touch test-see if your noise is gone, the same, or whatever. Let us know what ya find - see ya!
