that could be one of a hundred things... one could be to much power to the subs, you could be shorting out, (wires touching or cross wired), you could just be having amp problems and have a faulty amp..... may not have enough power to run the amp, maby your volts are droping to much and is shutting the amp off, are you playing them when the car is running or not? just a simple fact of illimination......

well i went out and messed with it for a while. I turned down the gains, they played, i turned them 1/8 the way up they still played, so i got bold, turned them 1/4 the way up, the amp shut off. I was like wtf. SOOOO, i took one sub off, too see if it would play, yes, hooked it back up, took the other one off. It still played. So the subs werent blown. I checked all the connections. Good. Still when you turn up the volume it shuts off. I am going to see if i can send it back, oh ya the low pass x-over is blown too.

hehe, i know exactly what your problem is bud, sounds like your running the amp in mono? am i correct? SO, if you are, your amp isnt stable to that ohm your running the subs, this causes the amp to shut off, in your case your lucky because you have a protection curcuit in your amp, if you didnt you coulda blew your amp to sh*t like nothing, your trying to pull to many amps through that amp and its not capable of runing to the performance your wanting........ so bassically, you have a few choices, you could run one sub, or you could series the subs and bring the ohm up and make the amp stable, or get a new amp thats capable of running that ohm, hope that helps

well let me tell ya what her system consists of. lightning 300 amp/bridgeable/2 channel
2 lightning 12's, the ****ty one's. svc 8ohm i think, not sure.
box.......
I just put it together, she bought it all and told me to install it. It used to play perfectly and hit hard as a mother too. She's had it for over 6 months without any problems. Then the low pass crossover blew, so i set the filter on off, then it just shuts off after like 4 seconds of play. Now what???? send the amp back???

are you using crossovers on the cd player now that your low pass filter on the amp dont work?? you need some sort of low pass filter to keep it from distorting and sounding like ****, also sounds like your amp might be a little bit screwed, what made it blow the low pass filter?

no idea why the low pass went out. She came over to my house bitching one day, i looked at the amp and checked fuses, the usual, then i turned her filter off and the subs came back on. SO the low pass blew. NO idea how. But i am going to tell her to send the amp back to lightning and get a new one. its still under warrenty i beleive. Thanks for the help, still no idea why the subs wont play though, only low? no idea
