Last week my brother and I installed his system in his car. He has a '95 Grand Prix. His h/u works, but there is no power getting to his amp. There is nothing wrong with the amp, b/c we hooked my amp up in his car and it wouldn't work either. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong? Thanks.

Dan

well, there could be a series of things wrong, first try checking your remote wire, make sure that its not grounding out, or bare wire touching, check all your ground cables, check your fuses, make sure you have a good connection on the power wire, try these things and see if you have any luck....

Well do you have a volt meter or access to one?

If so...go to the amp and test to make sure you are getting power to the amp. Put the Pos lead directly on the Positive power lead on the amp..and then the ground to a good ground. Then do the same for the remote with the HU being on. If you have power at both of these places..and all the fuses and what not are in the amp. Then GOOD chance amp may be bad....OR if the fuses are in there but are blown and or keep blowing..same deal.

Now if you dont have power there. Move up the line. Check where you have the power wire ran to the battery. Check for power on both side of the fuse. Check for power for the remote on the back side of the radio...etc etc. If you show GTG in all these places...again...might be a bad amp.

Good luck!!

that's odd... i hooked up a stereo yesterday in a friend of mines 95 grand prix... and I hooked up the remote wire to the remote wire on the harness... but... it didn't work for some reason.. I moved it to the red power wire... and it sent the signal to the amp... try this... I had the same problem and that was the solution.
