I have a noise issue that no one I have talked to so far has been able to pinpoint. I'm hoping maybe some of the installers here have encounterd this before. Basically I have a higher frequency hiss that can be heard from the tweeters that is proportional to volume. It's very similar to white noise. Here is what I have done to troubleshoot root cause so far:

1.) Disconnect RCA's and mute plug amplifier. Noise still present.
2.) Measure AMP ground and HU ground to chassis ground with DVM. I found less than 1 ohm with ignition off. Found ~9 ohm when igition is on. Weird!!!!
3.) Replaced HU with spare HU (different mfg). Noise still there.
4.) Replaced amp with spare (different mfg). Noise still there.

Through out troubleshooting, I used a home speaker to take out bias of speaker cable routing. So through all of this, I know that the problem does not exist in the interconnect between the HU and amp nor between the amp and speakers. I'm convencienced that this is related to an internal vehicle component that is leaking to ground. I don't know if a ground isolator will solve this or perhaps I need to run an additional battery to chassis ground. I just hope someone has encountered and solved this issue before. This noise is really buggin the crap out of me.

I was having a similar problem and was told to run the H/U ground to chassis rather than to the factory ground wire and run another ground from the cage (metal case around the h/u) to the chassis as well...

Here is a website that can better explain it to you...hope it helps...it's a great resource:
