what type of car is it and what sound system does it have? if it's factory amplified (infinity, bose, jbl, etc...) make sure no fuses are blown. i had a 94 LHS in my shop today and the guy bought a new radio for his car thinking the factory one was bad. his sounds didn't work because the fuse for his factory amp was blown.
if it's not factory amplified, use a DMM to check and see if any of your speaker wires are shorted to ground. you want to set you meter to measure ohms and hook one probe to ground. use the other probe to check each speaker wire. you shouldn't get a reading for any speaker. if you do get a reading, you found the problem.
