I had a Ford BII in the mid-90s (2 Door Explorer replaced it) and I had my band-pass box secured to the wooden "strips" that ran under the carpeting. The strips were off-set from the "corrugated" steel of the BII's body - made the carpet smooth.
I think you could do the same with your amp. Hrm....ground problem? Plastic screws? Could you mount the amp to the box itself? I did this in the BII and had no problems (was a daily driver, so I'm not sure how much SPL I lost).
Good luck
