On my MTX Thunder 8100 D amp, when I first turn on the radio (thereby turning the amp on with the remote wire) I can hear a sort of "hssss" coming from my amp. Its NOT my speakers and isn't the wiring so its something with the amp. Sometimes it does this noise and other times it doesn't. Could there be a built-in fan for my amp? It seems to only do it when I turn it on for the first time after it has been off for a good few hours.

The amp works just fine it just does that noise sometimes.(Basically only when its cold)

Any ideas?

Condensation, you must live by lot's of water/high humidity. It goes away after it warms up. Hope this helps

my old MTX 1000 D never did this and neither does my DEI amp for my components. Either way, it doesn't seem to affect the performance so I think its ok.

I had 2 Phoenixgold ti 400s and I had the same problem with 1 of the amps would work but not the same as the other 1.

you should try to get a shop or someone you know that has the same amp to put it in your car/truck to see if there is any difference.
