I just went out to best buy and got an Aiwa cd player, i beleive its the cdc-x217. Anyways i took out the stock tape player and I noticed the power and speaker supply that plugs into the unit was different: stock:strip Aiwa:block or something to that effect. So i figured no big deal just do a little bit of matching up wires. Well Acura didnt supply a color coded map or doesnt have any type logical coding. I played around with the wiring and got the units security to blink and it accepts the cd and spits it out when i hit eject BUT the faceplate does nothing!! help me please.

Go purchase Metra part numner 70-1720. Match the Aiwa harness colrs to the Metra harness. Solder the 2 together and plug the metra harnes into the Acura harness. Then, plug it into the Aiwa.
You may need to replace some of the fuses in your fusebox..depending on how much you "played" with it.

A lot of BB salesmen are dumbasses.. Go to the installation bay and tell them your make/model of car and that you need a wire harness to put a cd player in. Try to reconnect the wires you cut with solder(if you have a solder iron handy) or if not go to radio shack or home depot and get some red butt connecters and crimp the wires back together on the original harness. You will save yourself a lot of future problems this way.

I agree that most of the sales people at Best Buy are tards. Out of the 5 of us that work the floor, only 2 of us have ever played with mobile electronics before. It makes me sick listening to the other 3 people make stuff up to sell product to people. I need to get a job at a real shop, working in Mobile Electronics in Best Buy is taking a toll on my patience.
Oh and I hope you like that Aiwa, we get about 50% of them returned in my store. Oh yeah, did they bug you on the service plan too?

thats cool. I am installing at store 173 while I am in school. BB is a hell of a lot nicer place to work than the last place I installed..
Cant be beat now. Its fun to be some of the highest paid people in the store. Start off making more than people that have been there a while. I would, like to one day, go to a custom shop. But the exp and knowledge Im gaining here, I dont think I could get with an "old dog" installer.
