The amp is a 500d......i bought it blown, the guy said it didnt even power up....but it powers up, and when the sub is connected it sparks crazy at the speaker wire, and well thats the problem, it makes the sub thump real loud for a second, but i have to take the wires away because of the huge amounts of sparks.....

any ideas?

Yeah,

Go to mtx's website, find their customer service number. Call for an rma, send it back, let them refurb it, pay the fee and have a new amp.

Or you can try taking it to a local electronics repair shop. No guarantees though, and well i have bad experience with that.

It sounds like there is an internal short, possibly output transistors.. I would try a local repair shop for an estimate if you don't want to try MTX..

MTX is usually very reasonable as far as pricing goes on fixing amps. I would say send it in to them.
