ok, I just put my new sub in. I am running a new Pioneer Premier 920R deck and I am running 4 gauge wire to a Kicker ZR 240 amp to a JL W3 12, in a 3.0 cubic foot ported box. When the sub hits hard, or pretty much just hits at all, it makes a fluttering sound. I don't know what is causing it. My friend thinks that it is the box, since a friend of mine that makes bokes made it. Please help.

Sounds like maybe the box is tuned too high, when a sub in a vented enclosure plays a frequency below its tuning frequency the sub will move erratically, that would be my guess.

Try posting the specific dimensions of the box, then we can evaluate it and possibly make some corrective suggestions.

Maybe the port is too small or mistuned.. Please post dimensions and port size if you can
