I bought a pair of MB Quart comp. set last week. When I play my music for more than 1 minute at loud volume the tweeter goes down in quality like it's cutting off. Now I know these speakers can handle a lot of power so why is it doing this? I also have the tweeters at -3db on the crossover. Should I maybe have it on -6db or 0db to stop this from happening?

Strange... What amplifier are you using? It sounds like some sort of tweeter protection circuit to me. Does the tweeter every shut off completely?

I'm using an Alpine V12 303 amp.

It sounds like you're overdriving the crossover network, probably due to some distortion or a clipped signal. Make sure that your gains are not too high, the tweeters will keep dropping out if the protection circuit doesn't like the input signal

Read the post below if you need help with the gains.
