I am planning on running a mixed mono setup using a Phoenix Gold ZX500 (150x2, 600x1). It will be running two Kicker free-air 6.5" woofers in the doors and a 12" free-air subwoofer in the trunk. All three drivers are 4ohms. I want all of the speakers to receive frequencies below 70hz, which I already have a crossover for. I have a few questions regarding this setup.
First, how is power distributed between these three speakers? What loads do each channel of my amplifier see??
Secondly, is there any sound quality or power degradation running a mixed mono setup?
Thanks for your help, I could not find any information about running the ZX500 in mixed mono in my manual. I posted this in amplifiers already but I figured maybe one of your gurus could help me out! Thanks in advance.

I dont really feel that the 6.5s in the doors are going to help increase bass response, due to the fact they are much less efficient below 70 hz than your woofer, and they will each be receiving 1/4 the power that the sub will be getting. I would run the bass amp to just the sub, and get another smaller amp to run the 6.5s as midbass drivers, say from 50-200 hz. THat will give you much better sound, IMO.

Hmm, thanks... The thing is, I already have 7" Dynaudio mid's in my kick panels. I'm looking more for sub bass from a 6.5". I've heard that they do well above 30hz. I am also considering dropping my 12" and to use the 6.5" free-airs in the doors as my only "subs". I really don't need my bass too loud or too deep. Just sufficient

I was considering making a ported enclosure for the 6.5's but after some calculations it seems that it will take too much time. A sealed enclosure probably wouldn't give me sufficient bass I think. I used to have my dyn's in the doors and I loved their bass response. When moved to a much smaller kickpanel enclosure the bass tightened up but was not deep. Well, I may try out the 6.5" idea anyway and see how I like it... Thanks for your suggestions.
