we'll ladies & gents, yesturday we finally got my box built, and the subs are now mounted. my trouble arose when we started it all up. every thing appeared to be hooked up correctly and all was powered up, but we were getting next to no output from the subs.
so were thinking, outta phase, bad amp (Mmats d300hc), bad cables (Stinger Dream), bad HU (pioneer deh-p7200). so we start troubleshooting it. rolled my friends car upto mine and pluged away.
plugged my subs into his amp. boom, boom, boom, subs work fine. pluged his HU into my amp as it was connected to my subs. boom boom, boom, amp is fine.
so now we think it's either my HU or my RCA's. never got to test the rca's (no second set of female/female rca plugs), but i think we ran a single rca from my HU back to the amp, and got piddly output. so now i'm thinking it's the HU. this pisses me off cause it's still under warrenty but i canot find the recipt (searched for 4hours, everywhere, no luck).
so after falling down and watching Some saturday morning cartoons (Digimon ), i decided to take one of my other decks (jvc kd-lx3) out to the car and try that. hooked up the ground, power and ignition and plug in the sub-out rca's, and popped in a cd. no dice, piddly output. so now i'm total confused. i decided to try one more thing. took the jvc to the trunk and went and grabed a short 3ft run of rca's. hooked it all up in the trunk. popped in the cd. nothing, low level, butt scratching output.
now i'm really pissed cause i have no idea what's up, and Audio Thunder is 6days away
Please help me, any idea's are greatly welcome. -email me specter@crosswinds.net (might not work, email server is crap) -icq me 8550298 -phone me (416)716-4418 (Brad) or a combination (phone me and let me know your online ) anyone in the GTA that wan't to take a crack at it, gimme a call asap, and you will get your chance. Please Please Please help me.

well i dont know ill take a guess though...i believe the stinger RCA;s r directional...check if u got them the right way...or check your ground..maybe its loose or something..take a voltmeter and test if ur gettin at least 12 volts to the amp at all times..make sure the remote turn on is good..try a diff amp in ur car to c if thats the prob..if so make sure its all set right or u may have to send it out..
thats just some suggestions..without seeing it i cant help much..

I agree check to see if your rcas are the right way, just switch them at the amp you dont have to do it at the HU. If that doesnt work, try running another pair back, dont install them, because if that doesnt work then it was a waste of time. If that works then its probably a short in your rcas.

Well since you said the amp and sub worked....
you can try plugging in your headunit into another system.. to see if that works..
do you have your headunits set properly to output to the sub RCA's? sometimes that is over looked...
umm.. i'll keep thinking..

yeah don't forget the pioneer defaults to no output when power is removed from the head unit and must be turned back on. It scares my son every time. He has the same head. That doesn't explain why it didn't work with the head unit in the trunk but sometimes you forget a wire or two when its thrown all over the trunk.

were pretty sure it's the AMP. i've pulled it out and we dropped a PPI pc2600 in there and smaked it at 2ohm mono. hit a whole lot louder. but the same day the Mmats seemed to be hitting a bit louder too, just not what it should have been pumping. so in it goes for serviceing after one final bench test.
