I have a 1999 Ford Zx2 with premium sound, I kept the factory deck, and a phoenix gold 4 channel amp powering my front infinity kappa 62.1 speakers and my sub in the trunk. However I still get that annoying pop when I turn the stereo on and off, I took it back to the place that installed it for me and they said there is absolutely nothing that they could do to correct it. I noticed in an article I was reading that they recommended to add a turn on delay module. How does this work? How much are they? Do carry them? Are they hard to install, and where would it go? Any other ideas, please help me out, everyone I talk to is saying that loud pop isn't good for my speakers, and my sub goes all the way out when I turn on the system, it can't be good. Also I was on a forum for my car, and I was told that this part won't help me. I've gone to local shops and one place has told me that I need to put in a resistor in my pos. line, another told me that I could use a suppressor, and then a 3rd one told me that I need a high level delay circuit. Then another source told me that a 1/2 Farad cap they said in an email "See with a Cap your amp SHOULD be getting a good steady line of power at all times,. So when you turn off your car the Cap still has juice in it so your amp will turn off at the same speed as it does now but it wont be such a "Shock" to the amp" would this work?
Please help me if you have any ideas, other than changing the deck. Thank you, Matt Bogda

Loud pops are generally not a good thing, some amps have a noticable amount of turn on noise but with a PG amp I don't think that is the problem.
I have a couple questions for you. Are you using a line output converter or high level inputs on your amp, or do you have RCA outputs on the factory deck? Is the pop the same volume regardless of the volume on the deck? How are you getting the turn on trigger for your amp?
Without knowing exactly where the noise is coming from it is hard to say how to fix it. If it is because the amp is turning on too quickly a simple delay could be the fix, check Phoenix Gold's website for a document on how to do this cheaply. If it is a ground loop type noise a suppressor might help. If it is coming into the amp through the signal from the deck you have a whole new problem. A cap wouldn't help this type of problem in my opinion, and I don't know how any signal delay would help. I would try delaying the turn on first, you should be able to try this for a couple bucks worth of radio shack parts.
