My current system consists of a Clarion DRX-9255 using it's "front" pre-outs into an input of a Precision Power PAR-245 line driver. The PAR-245 then has a Y-adaptor attached to it's "front" outputs. I am splitting the signal to TWO amplifiers, one amp for the midrange/tweeter amp, and one amp for the midbass amp. The RCA run between the midbass amp is around 10 feet.

Here is the problem: When I attach the F-MOD crossover to the midbass amp RIGHT BEFORE THE AMPLIFIER, everything works fine. But when I attach the crossover right to the Y-adaptor signal going to the midbass amp, it somehow crosses over my tweeter amplifier as well.

I'm sure its something very simple but I'm a little confused on WHY its crossing over the tweet amp. So could someone enlighten me please?

Im not sure what kind of cables you are using, but the added resistance is somehow altering things (or thats the only explanation i can think of ) unless your putting it before the y adaptor.

PS: The 9255 has just as good, if not better line driving capabilities (high voltage/low impedance cap.) as the PPI unit.

I would think that you are introducing problems like a decreased S/N ratio by running an additional unit in line. I have messed with the 9255 quite a bit, and I wouln't use a line driver with it.

PS Why does it matter, just leave the fmod at the amp.

BTW, the fmod isn't going to be near as good as a standalone 24db per octave crossover, like an Audiocontrol 24xs. For SQ, or crossover accuracy.

Yeah, I figured that, but I only want a 12db/octave slope and its only temporary. The PAR-245 also has 5 parametric bands of equalization -- thats the main reason I'm using it. Well, I'm getting a new crossover within a few weeks I hope anyway. Thanks anyway.
