i just bought a phoenixgold powerflow 1.0 xsc10mkll capacitor i hooked it up to my rockfordfosgate power 1100a2 when i turned the ignition switch the amp begain to smoke so i shut the car off but the prop now is the amp will not work now unless i turn the car and cd player on and go and take the possitive out of the amp and put it back in then it works fine tell i shut the car back off. and what sould the capacitor be reading on the display it displays between 12 and 14

Hmm, there really isn't a whole lot you can do wrong when istalling a cap. As long as you had the + to + and the - to -, all should have been well. IF you are sure it was hooked up properly, it may have just been coincidence that the amp blew at the same time...

But I doubt it

but i dont think that the amp is blown because it works fine when i unhook the poss from the amp and put it back in when every thing is on.

Then, what you need to do is get a VERY STRONG hi-amp relay, and wire a switch so you can just turn the power on to the amp once the car is fired up. I think that stinger makes some, but, I know you can get them else where. Just make sure it matches your fuse rating under the hood!
