I have a ground loop problem that I can't get rid of. I have a Kenwood 3007 HU. A Sony XM-4045 for the mids and highs. And a Hifonics Zeus Z600 for the subs. The mids and highs are, Vega 6002's. I have 6ga for wire for both the Sony and the Hifonics amps. I have both powers going directly to the battery and the grounds going directly to the battery. The remote turn on is wired to a switch,(originally just the Hifonics was wired this way). I have tried running the RCA's three different ways, And tried I don't know how many different ground points. The highs click and whine like crazy when the car is running. I am getting very frustrated. Any help is Appreciated

Where do you have the head unit grounded? IF it is not grounded with the amps, try running a temporary ground from the head to the amp ground and see if it helps.
If not, then check the grounds for any other device in the signal path(they should all have the same ground potential-IE grounds must be electrically as close to the same as possible.)
I would also try running a new head, if you can get your hands on one, and see if the problem is in the unit itself.

have you tried relocating your RCA wires or checking to see it the shield has been cut. Check to see that the RCA wires are not running too close to power wires. This is your cheapest alternative.

The whining does increase with acceleration. I have also used two different sets of RCA's. It's a Bug it is going to have some wierd wiring no matter what. I have grounded everything to one place and the noise is still there. I have the power and ground running directly from the battery. I have the RCA's running directly down the center of the car. So the RCA's and power are nowhere near each other.

Did you say that you re-ran the ground from the battery?? Was this prior to or after your problems?? By running ground from your battery to your amps and acc. as well as running to the OEM grounding point and THEN to your cars electrical systems you are setting up a fairly large ground loop....
If it's just the highs that are wacky, it could be a bad xover in the XM-4045. If it is the mids AND the highs that are whacked, it could be that the RCAs are grounding through the amp (chasis) AND through the grounding point. Is the amp electrically isolated from the chasis?? By this I mean did you screw the amp into metal or into wood?? Even if you mounted the amp to a board but then hit metal with a screw, you could have problems... Are your gains set too high perhaps??
I don't know if this helps but after banging my head agaist the wall thousands of times over the years, I have become half-decent at getting the damn noise outta my system...

If possible try another HU, I have had two radio's do this to me one was a JVC that had a broken ground contact for the RCA on the HU circuit board(fixed by soldering a wire directly to ground) and a very different problem with a kenwood HU that ended when I did the same thing I did to the JVC.
