after wiring my amp to one ohm the loudness and sound quality of the subs went doen than what it was at 2 ohms. now i've noticed they are loosing power, i have to keep turning up the gain to hear them. as of right now i have to have the gain at max to have them at a low noise level. i have no idea what is going on but the amp seems to be working.

the amp is a memphis 1000d
the subs are 2 12" power acoustik farenhiet subs.

help

When you changed the load from 2 to 1ohm, exactly what did you do?? If you have the same 2 woofers you had at 2 ohms, rewiring them to 1 ohm is pretty hard. Typically, your impedance will be 1/4th or 4 times the orignal impedance, depending on what you did.

If you rewired it to 1/2 ohm load, the amp could be rolling back voltage out because of the low impedance. That could make your spl go down.

all i did to to get the amp at one ohm was to wire the amp in a parallel and then the subs in a parralel.

anyway i got the problem fixed.
