I currently have a Sony Md player in my truck and have no kind of noise or problems, but when I installed a kenwood CD (709) and I turn it on it starts making a whining noise and when I start my engine it gets louder.

I tried connecting a ground to the rca and it just minimized the the noise. How can I fix the head unit.

The RCA's should have a reference ground to the Kenwood. In other words, go ahead and make a permanent connection from the shield on the RCA's to the case of the Kenwood. Maybe there is a broken solder connection inside the radio - the RCA's should be grounded. HTH Ed

I actually had to do this on a jvc that had a broken solder connection, I checked the kenwood and it looked fine. I went ahead and soldered the rca shield wire to ground internally, now it works fine I have noise at all.
