Hey everyone! I hope someone can help me. I have a single Dynaudio 12" MW190 mounted in a sealed tire well. There is about 2.5 cubic feet of airspace and it is 75% stuffed with polyfill. It is powered by a Phoenix Gold ZX500 running in 4-ohm bridged mono (around 600 watts) and I am using the supplied crossover which is 24db at around 55hz.

I have been using this setup for around 2 months and have gotten nothing but awesome results - deep, clear bass but suddenly it seems like my voice coil has frozen. Sometimes it just stops playing all together. To get it to start again I have to apply a little pressure to the cone to get it moving again and it plays fine! What is wrong with it?

"supplied crossover" refers the the amplifiers built in crossover.

Sounds liek there's a cut in the voice coil somewhere. Might be at the connection.

Of all speakers, this particulary SHOULDN't happen to a Dyn. Try to have it fixed under warrenty, and do it soon !

(Also make sure it is not the amp or the wiring of course...)

Hope you get it worked out,
R-P

well im pretty sure i know what it is, it may be the tinsel leads coming from the terminals, this happened to me once and i wrapped them in a small piece of electrical tape at the terminals it worked for me....

Ok so Basshead, what exactly was the problem? The tinsel leads were broken? Should I cover just the terminals in tape?

no they werent broken but some how they would wiggle when the bass hit and they needed pressure to make contact again, so i took a small piece of tape and wrapped where the tinsel lead makes contact with the terminal and that workerd for me.....
