Ok, this is direct from the manual.

max power output @ 2ohms 500w x 2ch = 1000w
@2ohm, less than .8% THD 200w x 2ch
@4ohm, less than .5% THD 150w x 2ch
@4ohm BRIDGED 400w x1

I have a single American Pro DVC I need hooked up. Right now the coils are hooked up parallel and that all is bridged from the amp. Using my highly intelligent brain (aka ti-86) I figured out that the sub would be pulling 2 ohms. Ok, that means that the output would double from 400w x 1 too 800w x 1. Which, in turn, means each coil is getting 400w. I was told otherwize last nite by someone whos initals are AudioStylz. he told me that i could only get 500w total out of my amp, by hooking it(coils) up parallel, and wiring it into only one channel. This sounds correct, but it doesn't seem like it should be my only option... gah this stuff is confusing. I would appreciate any and all help.

Thank you

Don't know the amp or sub, so just a general statement.
Given 4 ohm coils (are they 4 ohm each ?) :
parallel 4 ohm coils = 2 ohm total
The amp is running a 2 ohm load.
It is specified to be able to run a 4 ohm load while bridged, and you're running a 2 ohm load.

Options :
-the amp can't handle it and it blows
-the amp can handle it barely and doesn't increase power (What AudioStylez probably said/ment)
-the amp can handle it easily and even doubles power

The safe way to go is wire the coils in series. : you'll have 300W, or 150W a coil.

Good luck,
R-P

That all sounds about right.

Technically halving hte impedance does double power but most amps cannot double the current needed to support the load so the gains are usually much less.
