Ok, I got all my stuff for my system (or at least as much as my funds allow for now...). I got a Crunch USA 3004SE amp (75 x 4, 250 x 2 bridged). I also got (2) JL 12w3's (dual 4 ohm coil). I put them all in a box, got the amp installed professionally, and dropped the box in the car today. It's a 91 Laser hatchback. I have a couple problems though:
1. Once I turn it up past like 21, i get LOTS of distortion from the factory 5 1/4's and the factory 6 x 9's. My guess is I have to get new speakers, which I was planning on anyway. Any suggestions until then? Any tweaking i can do? My subs don't distort, just the inside speakers

2. Did I wire this correctly? Since I'm bridging my amp into 2 channels, I'll need my speakers to be 8 ohm each, right? Well that's what I assumed. So I wired my D4's in series to make each one 8 ohms. Is this right?

Thanks a lot.

What deck are you using ?
If it's after market then try using some 100 or 200 mF caps in line to the spkrs. These should cut some bass to the smaller speakers and make sound better because they are not trying to reproduce the 40-60 Hz and down.
The wiring sounds right for that amp, I don't think that amp would like a 2ohm load. Enjoy your tunes!

Yup, go with bass-blockers, $10/pair from crutchfield or radioshack. I think they sell them up to 300 or 500 Hz, which may be too high, but I think they have ones in the 100 - 200 range which might work just right for your system (until you can get a new amp with built in 100 Hz high pass x-over and new speakers that can take 50 - 80 watts each)
