I just got a mmats d200hc amp, now if i turn the radio off there is a significant engine or power noise that disappears when i turn the HU back on. The cd player is an Alpine CDA-7840, never had any noise or problems out of the radio. The remote to my sub amp is wired to the fuse box that way i can have a switch......the high amp's remote lead is wired to the radio. Any help is greatly appreciated!

damn, thats really weird. I would think it was alt noise, but the fact that it stops when you turn your head unit on is strange.

The way you have the switch, the amp will stay on when the deck is off. When you turn the deck off the ground plane on the rcas to the amp is changing resistance, thus creating a ground loop..and noise. What I would do is hook up the remote for the bass amp to the deck also, but still keep the switch to kill it.. that way you can kill the bass by itself, and the amp will also go off when you turn off the deck, and the problem will go away.

Thanks for the help ea1. You were right..... that's what i thought but i still wanted some other opinions before i went through all the trouble of re-routing the wires.

i had an install like that w/ a switch.
just make sure you turn the amp off before you turn the HU off.. thats all. b/c when you turn hte HU off then the amp is no longer getting any kind of signal. makes for a really loud noise though.. hehe.
