I finally got my subs installed and I got a "thump" when I turn off my system. It may have been there before, but I had my midbassed high passed so maybe I didn't hear it? Anyway it happens about 75% of the time, more often when the truck is running. I regrouned the amps, HU and line driver (same ground) and PG Bass Cube. Somebody mentioned it may be my line driver. Any ideas?

well some times when you powerdown the amps will release a surge of energy through the subs speakers ect. you didnt metion what kind of amp you had. most amps have what is called a soft power up and down mode to stop this.

well im not really up with pg amps but thaey are a good am so i have heard and i dont think they should be doing this (i was expecting you to say some cheap brand then i would have told you it was the amp) but that is not the case here. There was something you could buy and use to make the amps power up and down slowly but i cant remember for my life what it was. Im sorry i could not help further.

I would try a couple of things........ one is to turn your gains down. Having your gains up makes the system more prone to pick up noise. Another thing is to take another look at your RCAs. Are they too close to the power and ground wire? A good way to test this is to pull your RCAs and check if the thump occurs again. Last and not least is the ground. See that the ground wire is grounded correctly to the truck, strip the paint from the area you are grounding the cable to. Let me know what happens

You also might try to isolate the problem.... for instance bypass the line driver first....if that doesnt do it then the bass cube.... and so on. What it sounds like to me is a gain problem. turn the sub amp to 3/4 and work your way down.

Me too, that sounds like it might help. Also like he said check the location of your rca's. Then again, it might just be the amp doesnt have that soft turn off thing. The same noise was in a freind of mines amp.

I would try disconecting the rca from the amps and see if it still thumps. if not plug in the rca's and do the same to the line driver till you find the culprit.
something like that. Or at least that is what I would do.
