Hi my fuse will sometimes blow during some songs (i.e. bass mekanik) all my wiring is correct (pretty sure). and i was wondering if it could be the current draw that is makin my fuse blow? could i just get another battery to remedy this problem? or could it be somethin else thanks

its definetly not the amperage because i have a 100 amp fuse and my amp only pulls about 88 amps. The amp is a PPI PC 1800 and i simply replaced my old black PPI PC 1400 (and it rarely blew) which is essentially the same amp so i'm thinkin that my battery might be dyin on me

Thats gotta be it. There is absolutely NO reason for a fuse to blow unless the power wire is somehow being grounded. Check the power wire from top to bottom. Even a small strand of power wire being grounded will blow the fuse. I've had the same fuse in my ppi art series amps for 2 years. Not once did it go. Let me know what happens

Actually it could very well be your battery or your alternator. When voltage drops, current has to increase(ohms law). So if you draw say 88 amps at 14 volts, if your voltage drops down to 10 volts your current rises to over 120 amps. This problem is more dramatic with the PPI PC amps than some other amps because they have a regulated power supply. So instead of allowing power output to drop off, it just demands more current from the power source. Im not saying this is for sure the problem, but I would definately have the alternator tested and the battery load tested. I would definately also check all of your connections, INCLUDING the ground strap from the batt to the car(not the engine but the actual car, on some cars this is as small as 12-14 guage and this is the ground that your amp is using).

PS That amps can also draw more than 88 amps, even at 14 volts. If it is putting out the actual 800 watts RMS that it is rated for(and I know it will), with a 60% efficiency(and they are not that high) it would need 1328 watts of input. At 14 volts(I doubt your voltage is that high), that is 94.85 amps, and at 10 volts that is 132.8 amps of current draw.

I'd inspect the power wires for any bare spots or fraying. There is just no reason for that amp to be pulling that 100 amp fuse apart. Also check your ohms on the speakers. Do what ea1 said also.
