I am trying to put an alpine receiver in a 92 explorer and the wiring harness I bought came with the wrong connector for the speaker wires. I have heard of some fords having factory amps other than in the reciever. I thought this may be the reason for the different speaker connection. The truck is an xlt also. If there is an amp elsewhere in the truck, do you know where it is located so I can bypass it and run the speakers straight from the new reciever? If that is not the case, I have no idea what to do. any help is apreciated. Thanks in advance.

Let me guess - you have a square plug for the speakers right?

Amps are located above the right rear wheel - yes you have to take that whole panel out!!!

Scosche and Metra make kits with the square plug and even make kits with the amp bypass...
