hey guys, i'm new to the forum and i'm trying to troubleshoot a problem with the alpine ida x001 deck i just installed, i'm a big fan of it and when it's working it works great, but sporatically the music will crackle and cut out, I can't seem to trace it to any of the wiring, i used a turbo wire factory integration harness for my 98 vw jetta gt. This is on radio only as far as i know, i'm just loading some songs to a thumb drive to test the usb, part of me is thinking possibly the antenna adapter but i can't make it fail. Any guesses?

Did the car originally have the Monsoon or Blauplunkt stereo system? Does it happen at low and high volumes? check the pins in the radio harness. try disconnecting one speaker at a time.

No it didn't come with the monsoon or blaupunkt, it doesn't have the bose amplified system either. I currently have 4 phoenix gold radials as my components with no amps. I checked the pins on the rear and they are fine, I can't cause the problem by twisting or wiggling the plug either, I've heard a lot of people had this issue with iPod connection but nothing else. The stereo is playing properly on all 4 speakers and will crackle and cut out on all of them when it goes silent

test with a different deck. If it only does it with the IDAX, then you have a bad deck

piss me off if it's a bad deck, it was a demo board deck and played perfectly on the board. Thats why it doesn't make sense to me why this problem would appear like this.

according to alpine it could be shrorting out on the pink/black which is the intermittent mute, i never thought of that i'll have to check and make sure that's clear.
