This works with locked panasonic units, maybe this will help....Hold the >>>>key (like canging tracks or stations on the unit) do this for at least 30 seconds. If that does not work let us know, you might need the remote like a kenwood and go throgh a seqence to unlock it.

i wonder how long the memory stays saved after you unhook it?

You might have to take it out for a few days until the caps discharge

Note: the initial set security code at the factory is on your product id card. this factory set security code will always work even if you forget what you changed it to. If you do not enter a code for the new security code, the security code will be disabled and resetting the unit or disconnecting / reconnecting the battery will not require a security code to operate the unit.

I got this from the pdf manual.

I have lost, or rather my wife pitched, the product id card. I never set another security code, so I dont understand why its asking for one??? Is there any way to reset the unit so I dont have to input any code? If you could email me that pdf that would be awesome... bullstuff@aol.com

sure, Is there a small "pinlike" hole on the face or does the face plate detach? it's usually under there. just hold it in for ten secs. Becuase its NVram it has to have some sort of jumper or reset to erase, like a computer's bios. The bad thing is it may be some secret thing that only the manufactorer knows!
