Ok I am really confused about this one. I have two xxx-6500's strapped and they have been working fine.Today I started my vehicle and only one amp turned on. Ok blown amp? no..... I disconnected the amps power, ground and remote wire. I hooked it up to a power source and it went on. I hooked it all back up and tried again...only one turned on. My remote wire from the unit seems to be powering up only one amp.I have one amp hooked up to the headunit remote wire and one hooked up to a straight power source and they both work. Problem is.I dont want to keep it this way. I dont want to have one turn off with the vehicle and one that I manually have to turn off at the surge protector. Anyone know why this is happening? One other thing.......I unhooked the remote wire from the amp that is turning on with the head unit and just hooked up the other amp to the remote wire coming from the deck and it still wouldnt turn on so is something wrong with the amp itself? Why would it turn on from a direct power source and not the deck?

do you know how wire up a relay? the amp trip is only .5 amps, It seems that your are loosing voltage on your turn on wire, have you checked it w/a DMM? if you need the dioagram i will send it to you, check your voltage first

Why would it turn on from a direct power source and not the deck? The main remote wire coming from the deck works, the problem is the amp? I just dont know why? it(the amp)turns on with a direct power source from a battery charger or the surge protector.Just wont turn on with the deck remote wire, whereas the other amp will. Will do further examination of the set up this weekend....

double check your ground and please tell me if you are familiar with a relay, you should not need a breaker to turn on your stuff everytime you get your car. Be as specific as you can or better yet, bench test it, if you have some xtra rca's laying around and a test spk, wire it at the batt(be careful)plug un a spk, plug in an rca and then give it power, if it works that should narrow down your prob. Just one thing, can you post a pic of your wire set up, amp location ???And allways check your ground, even if it looks good, in case you dont have a dmm, move or just try the other amp in the the same location and see if it works, good luck, let us know, JECKYL

jump power straight off the power lead, if that doesn't fix it...it's in the amp or you have no power or ground to the amp

I used my dmm to check the volts on my batteries and found they were low, plus I noticed I had a slow start. So I just charged the batteries up. I didnt think to check the batteries because I have 8 yellow tops in the back and one under the hood, and a 300 amp alternator. Didnt think I would have a power problem. Didnt realize my amps pulled so much power to run. Vehicle sits most of the year, only taken out for shows and competitions. Which there arent very many here. Had this system for a couple years now and never had that problem. That is why I was stumped...And having experience with installs and builds, You can imagine why I feel so dam stupid. I should have known better and checked the power source first. Oh well again thanx for the help. Back to bumpin hard as hell Posts: 11 | From: colorado | Registered: Sep 2008
