I just brought a Rockford Fosgate 800a2 amp and I had best Buy install it for me. I have a problem, when I turn up the sound now, the sound coming from the speakers is distorted. the sound coming from the subs sound great. I have a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder with a Bose system in it. The installer at best buy taped into the sound coming from the front speakers to give power to the subs. But now the sound from the front speakers is not as clear as before. I was wondering if the amp had somthing to do with it or any suggestions on how to fix the problem. Thanks a lot.

I didn't think about it... Was your bose setup the one with the amps at the speakers? Do any of you installers have any experience with high to low levels on those types of Bose systems? I can see a problem if it's not done exactly right.

even an amp with hi-level inputs needs a dedicated channel from your source unit...with or without a factory amp... they need to run the subs on your rear channel and run the front and rear factory spkers in series off your front channel of the deck...you may lose volume due to the series wiring...but it is the only way to ensure that your source unit will not be harmed

And people still wonder letting BB have Rockford was a bad idea? Seriously, alot of companies out there make adaptors to connect bose to an aftermarket amp. PIE, Soundgate, and several others. Sounds like someone let an installer convince you that you don't need one of these when in fact that you did. Now, the money that was "saved" by doing this is gone. Go back to BB and tell them to do it right, or to take it all out and give you your money back. Do this as soon as you can.

Right, what he said. You cannot tap the signal before the amplifier in a Bose system. It's a fully balanced signal and it causes problems. You would have to tap it after the amp and before the speaker. Take it back. Shops should be ready to play if people are ready to pay! Also, an amp can so be run in parallel with a speaker on the high levels. Most amps have at least a 10000 ohm input impedance (the RF is a million ohms) so the deck never even sees it.
