All right boys and girls, this is my first post

A year ago I bought a used (KInda) amp from a buddy whom i no longer have contact with, it was a PA A2400DB, the thing worked great up until last week when it just cut out for no apparent reason.. every once in a while it would previously cut out because my ground would tear or something... so, heres the disgnosis so far..
There's something wrong with the speaker terminals...
which doesn't make sense to me... I don't think that speaker terminals just stop working...

Anywho, we drew this conclusion because
A) The amp turns on with the green light going, no fuses are blown, and when we brought hte volt meter out everything is a good connection except the speaker terminals...
the sub it's hooked up to is a type R, I haven't hooked the sub up to a different amp, nor have I hooked the amp up to a different sub because I don't have anything to switch it out with
Anyone got ideas?
I miss my bass
The car is an 05 aveo by the way, and I checked all the connections from power and deck to amp and they're good.
if there's anything i missed or any qs just ask, i appreciate the help

Is the speaker blown?
Check the ohm load of the speaker to test it.
See if the amp has any output voltage.

can i do that with a volt meter?
I thought that if the speaker was blown it would just sound really ****ty, and when i push down on a blown speaker shouldn't there be a scraping noise?

not necessarily. you need to use a multimeter that measures ohms...the little horseshoe shape symbol. if the sub is a dual 2ohm, then each should read about 1.5-1.8.

i bet the amp is shot, from running and having the ground come out the power supply dosent like that, lol.

ur light will just come on from ground and remote you dont actually need ur power wire.

try another speaker even house speaker if you have one. that is easier then explaining dmm's to guys...

Pimpin: The amp definately turns on, you can hear it make noise and whir like it always does...
Jay1er: That's a tight avatar, I guess i'll try giving it the beat, but I doubt it'll work
D-bass: The sub is a dual 4 ohm, running at 4 ohms, I wanted a new sub anyways, so I don't care much if the sub is gone.

I am thinking the best idea at this point in time would be to hook the sub and amp up to a different sub/amp and see what works, I doubt both peices are gone, right? [Embarrassed]

How do you make a dual 4 ohm sub a 4 ohm load? last I checked it wasnt possable unless you only wired up one coil

If you don't know how to work a multimeter, then hook a pair of wires to your speaker with open ends. Take a drill battery and touch the ends on it. If the speaker moves the problem is in the amp.

even a 9 volt battery will work but depending on the speakers suspension may not move it very far

The rca's going to the amp may have been burnt out due to the ground been loose and the rca becomes the source of ground, change the rca to the amp and see if it works.
