Hey I've recently had installed a Sony XAV-A1, thats going to a 1200 watt power acoustic amp thats runnin to two alpine 10 inch type r subs.My problem is when im listening to a song no matter which source whether its cd/dvd/or ipod, in the song the bass is really hittin hard at one point and then it drops down to almost nothing, even though the subs are still on there is a popping noise that starts just in sequence like every second pop pop pop.. just continually sometimes it will go off or sometimes i have to turn off the h/u to get it to stop, but when i pause the music the popping still goes on, im going to try to disconnect the rca cables from the amp while its popping to see if its the amp itself or the headunit that does it. but if anyone has ever heard of the continuous popping and knows a fix any help would be appreciated

Id think along the lines of a bad ground too because when you hit pause there is no signal comming through the RCAs. but at the same time your RCAs may of also became a ground

I would say it is the ground as well but i had a problem like this with my first system that had the same symptoms but the changing the ground didnt work. i had two 12 inch subs in a prefab box with indavidual chambers for each sub. the thing that caused the problem was a leak between the chambers. i figured it out by pushing on one woofer and the other one moved the other direction. i think it was just caused by the air trying to go between the two chambers because i could only hear it when the bass was really low like changing sources but i am not absolutly sure because i put in a new custom system. good luck
