any one know if it is possible to reatin the factery sub with a aftermarket radio have not had any luck

if using the standard aftermarket 1721 harness isn't doing the trick for you... You could try tying the subwoofer input(Subwoofer+ Red/blue* Subwoofer- Red/white) in the factory harness to an cut-rca coming from the new deck's subwoofer rca output. You will of course have to turn on the factory amplifier(12V DC Battery Blue/orange 7 20 Amp Fuse box under hood Remote Turn On (input) Yellow/green )

if that doesn't give you enough signal voltage, you might wanna try using speaker lead as a higher signal level, or an LOC with adjustable level control.
