Let me start off by saying I've visited this site for years, but never got around to signing up. I have a 2002 ford focus which is a mobile office pretty much. I use a 2000 watt power inverter to run a laser printer. I ran a 4ga from the battery to the inverter, and also a 4ga from the alt to the battery, and 4ga grounds from the engine and battery to the chassis. Everything works as it is, but when the printer is warming up, it bogs down the car pretty bad. What I was wondering is if a big capacitor would fix a problem like this. I've been using it as it is for a while, but figured if I could fix the problem before it broke something, that'd be good.
Any advice at all is greatly appreciated.

I would first throw a DC ammeter on it to see what kinda current the inverter is pulling through the 4awg to make sure the cable is adequate.
You would benefit more from adding an auxillary sealed dry cell batt.
But first make sure that all of your current stock batt and alt is in great shape.

I'll check that out, I know the battery is only a couple of months old, but the alternator is the stock one. Everything works as it is and it's never completely shut down, I just don't feel that the car bogging down like that several times a day is good for it.
