95 saturn sc1..factory head unit when dome lights on or door is open the radio shuts off..anyone know what the problem might be or has seen this happen before..he want to keep the factory head unit in to sell car soon .so cant rewire a after market one in ..

Sounds like a bad ground .when the door is opened ,the pin switch comes out and the contact gets grounded completing the circuit .So what i would do is take a DMM and measure the power and ground at the back of the radio and see what you have and dont have and go from there .

ok i said it was a fuse could be wrong but there are three fuses for the factory radio one fuse is labled lights when this fuse is bad the radio still works unless there is a draw on that circuit door open dome on then radio shuts down because lack of power on that same cicuit to the radio.
i have see this several times before it may or may not be your problem but i offer it to you just incase

Thanks bigchill it was the chime fuse. He had the whole car apart. I checked the fuses and the chime fuse was bad.
