i have 3 subs in a sealed enclosure. 3 ts-w3004spl
running off 3 gain matched and syncd prs5000spls.
one sub seems to get sucked in at high volumes. its bad enough to wrinkle the suround.it looks like its out of phase but i triple checked all of them. any ideas?

Flip the polarity of that sub and see what happens. If you get more bass then you were out of phase.

Otherwise check for air leaks around the box.

less bass when out of phase.
it seems like the box is to small
but its 3/4 cube over optimum

Are you sure the subs are dual 4 ohm? I know Pioneer make them in dual 2 and 4 ohm. If their impedance all match up then push on the cone of that sub and see if it's easier to push in than other two subs. If so then that sub either has a broken suspension or just plainly "broken in."

they are all identical ts-w3004spls and they should all be broken in at the same time. never played one with out the other 2

Hum....hook up the amp that's powering the misbehaving sub to another sub and see if that sub does the same. If so then something's not right with that particular amp and you can narrow your problem down. If not then take out the misbegaving sub and check for rips in the surround/spider.

Don't ya love weird problems like this? I had a 2 ohm DVC sub with a bad coil but it still reads 2.6 ohm on my multimeter, it changes its impedance when the cone is moving so it took me awhile to realize that the sub was bad.
