Hello everyone, its been a while...I have a 2001 Jeep GC limited. I have 2 SoundStream amps...a Ref 1002 for subs ( 2 idmax12 ) and a Ref 644 powering Inf. kappa 61/2 components in the back and kappa 61/2 components in parallel with kappa 31/2 " in the front. I have an AC EQS before the amps and a pioneer 6600dvd head unit.
I have been dealing with the problem for a year now, When i push the system real hard the 644 amp clips. To be specific it looks like the front speakers are clipping it. When it clips it goes from high current mode to high power mode. My 1002 on the subs does not clip. This annoying as hell ... during peak spots in a song it will clip, very embarrasing, because the amp cuts on and off. Can anyone please diagnose this problem? I have set the gains every which way possible. Originally the gains on the 644 were all the way down and i used the gains on the Audio Control eq. Does anyone think i need a cap? or bigger alt? could it be that the front speakers have presented a lower impedence and thats causing it? i have used the amp in a previous car and had speakers in parallel and didnt have a prob...all advice is greatly appreciated.. Thanx in advance!

Check your grounds, check the front speaker total impedance at the amp on both sides (left/right), check the AudioControl EQS and make sure that isnt over driving your amp. Check your rca voltage also. Too much RCA Voltage could cause problems. Use basic trouble shooting ideas.
