I have read a few threads on on/off noises but I couldnt find one describing the issue I have. On power up/ down I get a single click noise from 1 of the amps (3 in total others are fine) the problem amp is a pioneer one and powers two 6x9s. It clicks every time it is turned on or off however if the stereo is already on and I start the car up the speakers make a loud thump sound that sounds like the speakers are going to blow up (for that reason I always make sure the stereo is off before starting the car) - is that what is referred to as "pop?" or is this something else and how do I make it go away??

If it helps I have also found that when I change a track on the CD or change a CD it plays through the 6x9s like an electronic noise only very faint though. I have the power cables and the RCA leads running down the oppisite sides of the car...

Check your amps ground but more then likely its the ground to the CD Player.

You said you got 3 amps...do you have switched 12v relay for remote turn-on or are all the amp's remote hooked up to your CD player? A typical headunit can only have two amps hooked up to its remote output before voltage gets too low for some amps to turn on properly.
