OK guys I was just driving down the road listening to music at a moderatly loud volume nothing insane though. All of a sudden my sub out of no where goes insane with so much bass like something shorted out. It was like full blast test tone. I turned the radio down but the volume didnt go down the bass stayed loud. keep in mind the bass overpowered the music by alot.

I then turned the **** car off in the middle of the road and rolled to the side of the street. The bass stopped when the car was shut off. I waited a few went back to the back of the car. I pushed on my MT and it felt fine so I think the sub is OK. My orion 2500d was VERY hot and kind of had that "electricity" smell to it (the amp was only at 2.8 ohms)

I waited a few and turned it back on and everything played. I rode home with the radio off. I pulled the amp out to take it apart nothing looks burnt.

What the hell just happened?????

Thanks fellas

That to me sounds like either blown RCA inputs or fried speaker outputs.

The same thing happened to my Viper 2500.1. It is the amp. I couldn't figure out what was causing it so the amp is just sitting now.

I know what you mean though. You'll be listening to music normally and the sub will start playing a tone full tilt.

Nope, not the rcas. Another amp worked perfectly fine.

Try jiggling the RCA cords by the amp's input, sounds like the ground on the amp's RCA jack got loose. If so then just resolder it back onto the board, no big deal.
